Messenger Plus! Live is an add-on for Windows Live Messenger, it is not a seperate or upgraded version of the product.

What do you mean you can't find avatars?  The display picture can be chosen by clicking on the icon on the top left of the contact window.

Can you post a screenshot to illustrate what you mean?
