O.P. Profile pic problems
Hello. I recently installed MSN messenger, and it was working great until about yesterday. My display picture is distorted and appears fuzzy. There is probably a simple fix for this, but I don't know it, so if you could tell me, I would appreciate it. :)

P.S. I have changed pictures multiple times, and it still looks distorted and fuzzy, so changing the picture does nothing.

Can you give us screenshots of what you mean?  Showing both the original picture and the "fuzzy" one?

The reason it does that is because WLM compresses the image if you've checked the option to use it where ever you sign in.

You can uncheck the option to transfer your display picture and personal message to other computers when you sign in, by going to Tools > Options > Sign In.

As a result, your display picture won't turn fuzzy, however the downside is that when you sign in on another computer, your display picture and personal message won't be transferred.

It's me again. I have another problem with my profile pic. Whenever I try and change it, it saves and everything, but it never shows up on the messenger. What am I doing wrong?

If you change it on another computer, does it work?

I tried searching but couldn't find anyone who had the same problem.

You could try removing the folder which stores your display pictures:

1. Exit Messenger.
2. Navigate to, backup, then delete: C:\Users\your_name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Messenger\your_email\ObjectStore\UserTile (Vista/7 only. XP slightly different.)
3. Try Messenger again.

It won't change on either of my PCs. One runs windows 7 the other runs vista.

I tried to find the folder you were talking about, but couldn't find it.

The folder will most likely be hidden, either type it into the address bar, or show hidden folders
