O.P. Huh?  Best device to read PDF books?
I want a device with a large screen (as big as possible to ease reading), that will display PDF files in a user friendly format so I can read/study from my collection of science PDF books.I usually have a pen and paper to work/study as I read from the device. It has to be a portable device, yet display the PDF in a big size. What device can you suggest? Of course a notebook can be used, but it's not as comfortable as a tablet like the Kindle. However, I read that the Kindle sometimes has some trouble displaying PDF's. Also, it'd be nice to be able to plug the device to AC power for long study sessions.Any suggestions? Thanks.

Me too.  I have been thinking I could use something like that, but I am not interested in buying content through amazon.com, iTunes, etc. -- virtually all of the stuff I'd want to read on it would be PDF or text files.

As far as I know, the Kindle can read pdf's not necessarily bought at their store, or am I wrong?

On a sidenote: You probably wouldn't ever have to plug in a Kindle (as long as you check it at home every once in a while). The kindle uses e-ink which only uses power when you change the page, not when looking at a static page/image.  But this technology is also limited to being monochrome and a fairly low resolution. It is good for reading text and basic images. But if you have books with a lot of images or even photos it is less desirable. A real tablet gives you high resolution and allows you to do a lot more than just view books, but the battery will last a lot shorter.
Finish the problem

Personaly I would go for a tablet PC in that case. More expensive than some of the Kindle devices or its alternatives, but you can do so much more...

All the Kindle like devices are monochrome at best. Except for one exception: for the Japanese market there is an Kindle alternative, the FLEPia from Fujitsu, that also features a color screen, etc. But it is rather (way too) expensive...
