hi i dunno why there is no german forum when plus live is also for german ppl but i try to ask in english

yesterday live plus updatet hisself, after this ALL of the communication logs from ppl disappeared and i didnt found them again..so my question is: how can i recover these logs and why windows live plus deleted all my logs only cause of a stupid update?

Where did you store the logs? Can you give us a folder name? If you go to that folder manually are the logs still there?

dunno the right names in english but sth like:

C:\Documents and Settings\"my name"\My Documents\My Chats

in german it's:

C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\"mein name"\Eigene Dateien\Verlauf

only some logs where saved, other ones vanished and there are huge holes between the day before yesterday, yesterday and today in some logs

Besides saving logs locally, do you also have online logging on?

I'd also like to see a screenshot of your preferences screen concerning these logs: Plus > Preferences & Options > Logs > Chat logging

i didnt know there is sth like online logging, saw it as i made the screenshot for preferences...

last time i saw the preferences some times ago and the layout was different from this now, is this layout now the new version? normally i save automatically the log with windows live so i save them for over a year now .. i can see june 2010 - april 2011 in my logs

Yes this lay-out is new. What I see in your screenshot is that you are not using Messenger Plus! chat logging, neither of the log options are checked. It can not save chat logs if you don't have the option turned on. An update never changes the settings, at least I never encountered one that did.

Are you using the logging system in Windows Live Messenger itself (Tools > Options > History - in WLMsgr 2011) instead? Those logs that dissapeared, are you sure those were logged with Messenger Plus!? Have you checked the recycle bin?

i dont know why but i was logging in the OLDER version and never used the log system of the normal windows messenger

I see that is not turned on in WL Messenger. That it is logging today is beyond me, did you enable it in preferences today? Can it be you are also logging events and that you are seeing those? That option can be found under Event logging: Plus > Preferences & Options > Logs > Event logging

To log chats again you will need to enable it.

i didnt changed anything and it wasnt logging the last hours..now i enabled logging with msg plus again and it's logging now..but the logs from before installing the new version are missing cause of the update O.o
