SO, I had this same problem, read the entire post, tried these versions and BOTH 5.02 versions have this bug, downloaded 5.01, then no bugs anymore!!!
Since the guy didn't explained that good I'll try to explain it further
Emoticons are completely bugged, they doesn't apear on the right spot but on the end of the text
Example using a Forever Alone emoticon with
Fovalon shortcut
You are so
Fovalon, no one likes you

but this is not everything, MSGPlus sounds doesn't work, User sounds doesn't have the "Listen..." clickable, so if you do not let it play when you receive, you can't click it to play
User Files, when someone tries to send you a File, you cannot click accept, save as or cancel, you
CAN, however, use the shortcut keys to do these actions
Other functions like /me doesn't work because it adds a * in front of the sentence, breaking function!!!
well, these are all the problems I found, and Reverting to 5.01 DID worked, and I don't have any problems
