For a long time I've been using HeyWire to send free SMS to friends. A few months ago, many of them stoped receiving thoses messages (I strongly believe it's because most of our local carriers are blocking the reception of internetional SMS - or at least some of it).

I'm looking for a new alternative that may work. I have an iPhone and the AppStore has many apps that work only in US (some on Canada too), so these won't work for me. Does anyone know another good app that could possibly work (mostly) worldwide?

I've looked a few times for Android apps to send free texts in the UK, but I'm yet to find one.  Seems most are just US-based.

You should try HeyWire. If it works you'll like it.

They don't do free calls/texts to phones in the UK, only to other HeyWire users.  Problem with all services like this is that (for the UK at least) it's free only to users on the same network, which is practically nobody I would use it for.  :L

Yeah, not even the e-mail to SMS gateways work in the UK from my experience.

I've given in and installed Facebook Messenger now... I feel dirty

WhatsApp is always good when most of your friends use it. And very affordable.

I am a beginner software developer. I'm working on an C#.NET application that makes it possible to send free SMS through a gateway. I found an information on that page ozekisms.com/index.php?owpn=219 that seems to be working. Do you have any suggestions to my project? Any useful idea?

I m using whatsapp for sending msgs worldwide. Along with this you can also choose we chat,  Zozoc, viber etc.
