The main goal is to keep the forum around as long as possible, so everyone can access it. This might eventually in a different place. But as long as the original thread content is there and the old URLs redirect I consider that a better option than a few people with a .SQL/.CSV file.
You are right though, nothing on the internet truly lives forever. I like the kind of data liberation tools Google, Twitter and alike offer. But TBH currently I have a massive todo list (unrelated to msghelp/msgplus). I don't see me working on a export function for a "what if" scenario right now. I do have full backups. Should something unexpected happen there are plenty ways to reach me outside of msghelp (

No prunning has been done in a long time btw, except for T&T... and even there it hasn't been done for a long time since not much is posted anyway.
