O.P. Transfering files
All computers in my house are connected to a router (->LAN?).

Question: can I send files from a computer to another without having a data transfer cable or whatever?

RE: Transfering files
Yes you can! All you have to do is put the files into the shared folder and share the folder with the other computers (if you don't have one make a folder and share it by right clicking it and looking at properties.) Then you can copy that file onto different folders on the the oher pc/s.:)

or an easier way just right click on the folder > Sharing and security. If you are running XP pro i would recommend that you take off simple file sharing.  To do this go to any folder then Tools > Folder Options > the "View" tab > Use simple file sharing (its right down the buttom), untick it then "apply to all folders" > apply, then OK.

Also if you are moving the files from one pc to another you will have to change the permissions on it ( im retty sure), which is in the "Sharing" tab.
