Have you tried updating Windows Live Messenger? That is an old one, the latest is 8.1 (Build 8.1.0178.00). Maybe this would solve your problem. You need to go to Systems and then Advanced and then where it says Startup Recovery, click on settings and you can untick automatic restart, in case you are wondering, then you will be able to see the exact error. Not everyone has a picture by their name, and people change them too, I would find that annoying if I could not see the person's name as well. I have to agree with Cookie Revised, cannot understand why people do not keep their machines and softwares up to date.
