RE: Change the browser
That's why I have Windows Update turned on. Anyway, I have started another thread (which I hope will become a sticky) so that we don't keep getting people asking about this, unless they have something useful to provide (like a solution). The thread...

RE: Change the browser
Updating Windows will NOT cause Messenger to open your mailbox in any browser other than IE. This is because, while links are passed to the default browser (just like opening an HTML file on your drive), Messenger uses IE directly to launch th...

RE: Change the browser
Links in conversation windows will open in your default browser (mine is Mozilla 1.7rc1 right now). However, when clicking the toasts, Messenger still opens IE: for example, opening your e-mail inbox. Depending on how Messenger launches IE, it may be...

RE: Programming section?
How come no-one else remembered that? Including me?

RE: Programming section?
If people want, I can set up a programming forum (most likely at ProBoards.com). It'll obviously be solely for Plus! programming initially, but it could branch out to Messenger programming too.

RE: (request) Plugin tutorial
There's a new version up, still at http://www.geocities.com/raceprouk/msn/plugin s.htm. This time, I haven't posted a direct link, as there is now a support package (5KB zip file) containing the VB source to my AllYourBase plugin v2, as w...

RE: (request) Plugin tutorial
With the code samples, I was aiming at providing examples of code for tasks that plugins may do. My sound plugins read the registry, for instance. Then again, examples of how to use the functions may be more useful. I'll let you know when I've got ...

RE: (request) Plugin tutorial
The documentation is not strictly a tutorial, but it is still the best place to start. While my guide will cover the API, it won't cover all the details. However, it will make up for this by guiding the reader tyhrough the MPPlugin samples, and then...

RE: (request) Plugin tutorial
Not really a true tutorial, I think. Anyway, I believe what laserfisk is looking for is a (layman's?) guide to the API, and some samples of what can be done with it. As I have said, I am happy to write such a guide.

RE: (request) Plugin tutorial
I could write one, then submit it for approval. I was going to write a quick plugin-making guide for Plus! for my own site anyway, but as that's a GeoShitties site, and not many know about it, it doesn't get a load of traffic.

Worms!
I now have written yet another sounds plugin, this time with 29 sounds from the classic Worms Armageddon. Enjoy! PS: I will also be placing this on my site. EDIT: Now on my site too.

RE: microsoft visual c++ Runtime Library ??
1. What does Ctrl-Shift-F7 do then? 2. Have you tried re-installing both Messenger and Plus!?

RE: Messenger Plus! 3 - news
In order to do an auto-reponse, the plugins (and scripts?) will need to be notified of all incoming messages: at the moment, the API defines only ReceiveNotify, which is called only when a special character is sent. So, at the moment, it can't be do...

RE: Random Quotes Plugin
1. Version 2 will read from a textfile 2. I really must stop using XEmacs to write my ReadMe's... CrLf's fixed.

Random Quotes Plugin
If you remember the XQuote plugin (I think it was called that), this is similar. It has 25 quotes at the mo, more could well be added soon. All quotes are funny in some way. To install, follow the instructions in the packaged ReadMe.

RE: Messenger Plus! 3 - news
:bow::clap: Can't wait! Good thing the features will be easier to access: I've been using Plus! since 1.42 (I think), and within the last week I found out about a feature I never knew existed. Keep up the good work! EDIT: Just read through t...

RE: Some n00b Questions
I've used PlaySound, and I think Messenger uses it too. I would recommend: C++: Use the MCI library VB: Use WMP Both of these should be easy to use (not letting his own experiences and n00b skillz with C++ prevent him from telling the truth ;)).

RE: Microsoft appear to have done more 'maintenance'
So can I, but if I sign out then in again, the newlines are stripped.

Microsoft appear to have done more 'maintenance'
I think they're stripping newlines from nicks now. I signed in today, and my lovely 3-line nick was shoved onto one line. I set it back, only for it to be forced onto one line again. Anyone else noticed this?

RE: Upload filesize limit
Strangely enough, the new VB versions compile to smaller code than the old C++ versions (AllYourBase, Matrix, and MontyPython do anyway: RedDwarf has more sounds in this latest version).

RE: Upload filesize limit
Four actually, with a total of 57 sounds in WAV format. I tried converting them to mp3 encoding, but the filesizes barely changed.

The file I wanted to upload was a shade over 2MB, and I tried doing it via editing the post.
