RE: My computer and sleep mode
From what you've described it doesn't sound like a problem. When you press stand by on the computer it does just that surely, puts it in standby? Are you thinking of hibernation? [url=http://shoutbox.menthix.net/basicsearch.php?d o=search&sfrm=1&ke...

RE: My computer and sleep mode
In your BIOS there is sometimes an option to chose how to power up from standby (keyboard, power button etc). And I don't think you need to keep telling us you have an AMD 64 blade. I think we all know by now ;)

RE: How can you get rid of the sponsers?
Yesterday I had first hand experience of someone who had used anti-spyware software and had fubar'd the uninstallation. What did I do? I reinstalled Plus with the sponsor, then uninstalled Plus using Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. ...

RE: Prefered Graphics card
It depends on certain things. Doom 3 supposedly runs better on nVidia cards and Half-Life 2 runs better on ATI Radeons. nVidia cards are technically superior on paper though. Next year I am planning on building a new computer, and will probably choos...

RE:
I agree as long as there isn't a huge debate over whether or not it should be enabled/disabled by default 8-) :P It is common in many program installations (Launch program, show readme etc), so it would not be out of place in Plus. Good thinking Ug...

RE: coardless mouse and keyboard?
I have the Logitech Cordless Desktop MX. The mouse uses the fast MX engine so its one of the few cordless mice that are suitable for playing games without lag. The batteries only last a few days in the mouse, however they are rechargable and the rec...

RE: File Transfer Plus 1.1 RELEASE (update 14/09)
I can understand people being impatient. I love this plugin too. But the final release will only be out when its ready. RicarDog is a refreshing developer who only releases stuff when its polished to perfection, and not a buggy release before. I'm s...

RE: Can I spy on conversations between other people?
Yes I would agree with this, however the original suggestion was to use a sniffer on a LAN to monitor employees. If the monitoring process is not a transparent thing, and people are warned about it, then yes its not an invasion of privacy. :P Has an...

RE: Can I spy on conversations between other people?
I'm still going to disagree with you I'm afraid :P I think that chats should remain private. Its a privilege that I receive mail in the morning, but I wouldn't expect that its ok for the postman to open my letters. (E) If an employer suspects a p...

RE: Can I spy on conversations between other people?
Surely its still an invasion of privacy to read other people's chats without permission, even if an employee was abusing the system? If that was the case, surely the privaledges of an employer only allow them to deny you access to Messenger? ^o)

RE: Make Firefox FASTER!
There is an extension to do this as well, with a nice GUI for those who are a bit afraid to use the text format as Matty suggested. Check out Tweak Network Settings. It allows you to use a preset, and ea...

RE: Firefox 1.0: Get the facts Bug!
This bug has been fixed. Apparently there was an extra </div> tag that was causing the problem. I just tried the page and it did render incorrectly. Refreshing and it went away. Its probably a Firefox bug, or Gecko bug. There are a few extra unneces...

RE: Log Searching
I agree with Cookie as regards stopping making things too easy for lazy people. Not reinventing the wheel is a great anology there. However I will say that this cannot be done for people who encrypt their chat logs, and can only be performed on plain...

RE: In need of your encouragement!
You always get my vote mate! (y) There's always a lot of stress to do well, and usually people do a lot better than they expect, simply because there is a tendency to "expect the worst". I hope you get along fine. You're a vital member of our com...

RE: BitTorrent HELP
Wow, welcome to the 1990's! Kazaa should be dead and buried by now. Its a big step behind the other P2P networks like BT and eDonkey. A good BT client would be something like Azureus which is actually written in java, but is fairly well featured fo...

I recall a while ago that the nVidia graphics drivers caused some of the problems you suggest. Do you have these drivers? If so, does upgrading to the latest version help?

RE: File Transfer Plus 1.1 RELEASE (update 14/09)
This *could* be a bit risky. Really resuming/overwriting/renaming should be done by a human rather than a computer. You could end up corrupting, or overwriting a file you wanted to keep. :) However I expect RicarDog to have some bright idea about ho...

RE: File Transfer Plus 1.1 RELEASE (update 14/09)
Do you have auto-accept turned on? If I remember correctly, turning it on doesn't give you the option to choose where to save your file, and if the file already exists, it appends a number to it. Obviously this is the behaviour you want from autoac...

Although not a direct solution to your problem, if you want to improve transfers over MSN, checkout the superb plugin, File Transfer Plus by RicarDog. While both sides will need the plug...

RE: Suggestion: When ive been blocked...
This is a common suggestion however there are 2 problems with implementing it. 1) Its a major invasion of privacy, so Patchou would never add it 2) Its actually impossible to do with the protocol. There was once a hole in it that block checkers could...
