CookieRevised is right, and wrong at the same time. Messenger CAN read .jpg, .png. etc as the background, but the file extension needs to be .gif for it to load. I found the error for me. If I use the %status% tag in the tooltip, then the script doesn't work. Removing the %status% has fixed all the problems, and it hasn't acted up since :).
