this is the error: msn messenger has encountered a problem and needs to close. we are sorry for the inconvenience.

ok i've tried everything to make msn work and its not helping..... i had msn 6, msn discovery and plus thats about.. i tried removing msn discovery and plus and msn 6 via uninstalation then installing just msn 6 and it doesnt work... although i have a work around to get it to work its still annoying......

heres the work around:  login to my brand new acct with no contacts then relogging to my main acct.... when i relogin using my main acct i notice that the bar on the left side is gone... perhaps that is the cause?

i don't have any viruses or spyware i believe..... i use adaware pro and norton 2k5 so no problems there..... also i had just recently reformated..... i've used msn discovery and plus together with no problems in the past.....

i need help either someone teaching me how to do a really clean uninstallation... (all registery gone) or someone who has experience to help me fix the problem...... thanks so much in advanceD!!!!!!!

Try getting the messenger 7 beta from microsofts site and see if that fixes your problem.

Also try uninstalling messenger, going to the messenger folder (Normally c:\program files\msn messenger) and deleting all the files there, then re-installing messenger.

thank you for some help.. i have tried deleting the stuff in that folder and the other folders for the add-ons... (plus msn discovery)

your suggestion about using msn 7 was already implimented..... however i do not believe in beta versions of programs i use often..... i had some bad experiences..

any other help from others who had this problem is greatly appreciated..... thanks

Reformatting is enough to clear the Registry if you formatted the Windows drive. Other than that, all I can recommend is using Windows Update, installing all available updates.
