Actually, accidental damage coverage like Dell Total Care will usually fix/replace anything, no questions asked.
I know someone who intentionally threw their Dell Total Care covered laptop out the window to get a fresh replacement -- he did. It's really an insurance policy more than warranty, and as long as there's not an axe still stuck in the remains you send them, they can't prove and won't even try to claim the damage was intentional.
