Firstly, after many tedious hours of data entry she used newtons divided difference to formulate a function and extrapolate the data to 2009 (data being money and time that she would have spare).  Then she factored in other major event and their likely-hood.  After that then she could tell that there was only a 23% chance of it happening obviously.  If she was just guessing wouldn't she have used the all powerful 42 anyway? (I think that 23 is one of the sexiest prime numbers really.... consecutive numbers that make a prime are great )

I'd be interested in going, but travel is going to be hell. Just did some background research, and it would take roughly 2 days to get there (includes crossing of date line, so I don't know how much time in hours).
Flying the other way, its only 11 hours (plus whatever time zone changes again)

yeh takes close to 24 hours to get here.

You could always fly to bali and smuggle yourself in on a boat.
