We finally get rid of the high server load, and you want it back?

That search page is TOO advanced. Doing an advanced search through the text of 50000 messages requires too much processing. I've been able to make the server load exceed 10.00 with that script...

Back to the topic... uhh, anyone have a collection of transparent .gifs yet?

Course not but there's no harm in stretching the server a bit, but within its limits, in compromise for better quality forums

Maybe you could make the search page even more advanced... so you could choose to search recent posts only, as well as choosing forum and username.  If the search covers too many threads, the request could be rejected, or better still put through to basic search.

well, fluffy... then it would first have to check = server load

yeah it would only be if we had enough server load to spare... if we're only just avoiding the server limit then fine.  Better save than sorry i guess

We're not on a dedicated server any more. More customers will probably be hosted here in the future, and I'd like to use as little load as possible to keep them and the admins happy.

fair enough... the msn6 emoticons aren't that great anyway
