RE: 16 seconds to show the menu
I got 38 processes running (including the Winblows ones), and mine loads on the fly.
So theres no reason to keep ending processes

But then you need to compare systems.
Your computer may be faster and have more ram then thekid's computer

RE: 16 seconds to show the menu
if its Win XP, on the left bar thing, click on "Details" to hide the info about the file and then try, because for some reason, when i right click on mpeg/avi files sometimes it lags like hell (cpu @ 1996MHz, 768 DDR Ram) so i hide the details then click and tis fine.
i have 33 processes running, none are crap i dont want

Yeah. Actually, I want to get rid of Yahoo, I don't know how.

do you need all them being running? You should start them when needed and stop them when you finish working with them.
Don't know.
But those are "processes that Windows need to be run"
I have 4 svchost.exe in the Task Manager.

I have 512 DDRAM. In the past, sometimes I had more than 35 processes running, but it was fine.

That is normal, svchost is a system process. What are all the others you have? the amount of mem they are using, and what is your CPU % at?

I thought that the 34 meant the munber of icons in the system tray.
34 running processes, including the system ones is right.
your screen shot of the task manager seems right (sistem idle process -> 99% cpu )
