Being a seller on ebay myself, if I am not mistaken, its somewhere in the help files about that you are not allowed to do private sales with an item that is listed. I'm certain you are only allowed to do that if no one bids on the item and you can offer it as a second chance offer

Then that would be in voiolation of the the sellers rules and policies. See the link in my previous post

may73alliance: the best thing you can do is return the email saying you cannot do what he/she is asking as it is again the rules and policies set out by ebay for seller and tell them that they would have to bid on it on the site. If thy want it badly enough, they'll bid through ebay and then at least you would get feedback too.
