Well that *should* work.

However it should be in cpanel somewhere to stop disconnecting after a period of time. I believe I saw that somewhere.

RE: C-Panel Help
see in your ftp client settings for settings to keep connection alive
or pinging the server to notify ftp server to stay connected

that depends from which lient you use !
Window Manager is discontinued, for WLM try the new,
Enhancer for contact list docking, auto-hide, hide taskbar button, remove button flashing and remember keyboard layout in conversation windows

As far as I know, its in the conf for the FTPd your host is running. Contact them to increase the timeout, or try using a better ftp client and see if that fixes it.

SmartFTP sends NOOPS each while to prevent timeouts.

Yeah but he's talking about timeouts whilst transferring a file. That counts as activity so it's not normal for the server to disconnect him.
The previous sentence is false. The following sentence is true.

RE: C-Panel Help
I check my cpanel and I can't find where it was. I suggest download another client than smartftp. I myself used to use smartftp and it would timeout.

I suggest filezilla...it stays connected longer.
