I encryped my log files with a password a long time ago, and when I finally went back to try to find something in an old log, I completely forgot my password to open them up. Is there anyway of changing the password without having to know the old one first?

If that was possible. Then why do u need a password?

As ghost implies, there is no way of recovering/changing the old password. Sorry.

I assumed there would be a secure way to change it, that's why.

if there was a way to change your password, then the encryption would be useless as anyone would be able to de-encrypt them using that method . So no, you cant recover your password.

the best way would be to try every old password you can think of, and hope you get lucky, other then that your screwed
