i have an AMD x64 x2 4200+, plenty of hard drive space, and not a clue of what to do in regards to installing mac OSX onto my system :(

anyone got a link, most tutorials i've seen are only for intel processors :(

oh also i need to know which 'build' i need to "buy" ;-)

Does OS X support standard BIOS, or did you need some sort of extra software?

And that'll stop you installing on the x86-compatible AMD? :P
The only real requirement is that the processor uses the x86 instruction set. I know the Athlon 64 uses AMD64, but it also has native x86 support.

So installing OS X on an AMD machine should be identical to installing on an Intel, or any other x86-compatible processor for that matter.

Edit: In fact, the Athlon 64 supports SSE3, so you'll not only be able to install OS X, but also run all those PPC apps!

Ok here it is if you want to try.

What I'm useing:
ASUS K8V SE Delux Mother Board
AMD Athlon 64 3400+ Processor

Heres the website I used: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

Everything you need to know is on that site from hardware compatibility lists to install instructions.

Also remember your processor must be SSE2 or SSE3 compatible or else it will not work.

I got the AMD Athlon 64 3400+ and it only supports SSE2. They have a patch on the site above to get SSE3 apps working on SSE2.

In that case the AMD site lies. Meh.

PPC apps work on SSE2, albeit slowly.

I wish I could install OSX86, however all the computers that are capable of running it belong to my dad :(

Just out of curosity - why would you want to install Mac OSX on a non-apple computer?
