well, i can't see other people's display pictures or their custom emoticons, i have check the settings and even uninstalled all the msn programmes but it is still like that! please help me!

Check if these are ticked.
Tools>Options>General>"Show display pictures from others"
Tools>Options>Messages>"Show custom emoticons"

yup they're on, i re-opened msn and it still doesn't work (seeing dp's)

When the computer is starting up hold F8 and then boot in Safe Mode.

This may or may not help anyone, but:

Some computers (such as the IBM ThinkCenter) do not allow you to boot in safe mode. This varies with the type of computer it is (like a prebuilt Dell, HP, IBM etc) and also with software. Usually only computers prebuilt for school use have this safe mode option removed.
