O.P. Windows XP wont boot
Im having some issues with my desktop. Just recently, it wouldn't open itunes, i would click on the icon but nothing would happen. I decided to restart windows. When I did, it started off as usual (The Screen that looks like MSDOS) but after that, nothing happens and my monitor goes black.
Any ideas?
Thanks

RE: Windows XP wont boot
That was probably not MSDOS and was probably your BIOS because unlike Windows 9X, Windows XP is not just a layer on top of MSDOS. Could you please expand on this a little bit more? Are you dual booting any other OS?

Yeah sorry I knew it wasn't msdos but I didnt know the name.
I dont know what else to say, im not dual booting. Im only running XP home edition. The bios acts like normal but then it just goes black. Perhaps if you ask some questions I could answer them? Im not sure what to look for.
Thanks

Check your CPU's clock speed and multiplier?
This happens to me often as well, but i know my clock & multiplier is 133MHz @ 9.0x.

RE: Windows XP wont boot
I would say you guys are looking at this wrong.
Go into your BIOS and check to make sure firstly that your harddrive is listed. If it isn't try changing cables etc. If that doesn't work and your drive isn't shown in the BIOS it may be dead.

RE: Windows XP wont boot
When you say your monitor turns off do you mean it comes up giving you a No Video error? Or it sits at a black screen?
If you tap F8 when rebooting do you get any options?

RE: Windows XP wont boot
Try to boot from a bootable CD (e.g. Windows, or any Linux LiveCD you can download online). Don't do anything if you succeed, just report whether it boots ok, freezes or otherwise malfunctions.
Make sure your optical drive is first in the boot order when you try this.

Hey everyone, I gave up on my computer last night after I checked my BIOS. I just turned it out now and it has loaded windows and everything appears as normal.... this is so strange. I'll post if anything else happens.
Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. I really appreciate it.
