RE: Switch off File transfers? Is it possible?
By default files aren't accepted automaticly.

Asfor the virusses, tell MSN Messenger to scan received files with a virusscanner after they are recieved (tools > options > file transfer ..check "scan files for viruses using:" click the "browse"button and browse to the exe file of your AV program, click ok when you're done. Ofcourse make sure the virusdefinitions are up to date.

Also atm it's wise to not accept files if it's the first thing comming up in a message (virusfiles are often sent to all contacts on sign in) or when the filenames or extensions (.scr, .pif etc.) look suspicious to you.

In both, MSN Messenger and Plus! there is no option to fully block the transfer files feature.
