Actually if your thread doesnt have any replies then there is an option called "show unanswered threads" at the bottom of the page for people to check your thread out. Regular forum helpers check that out every now and then (by the pace of this forum ... i'd say quite soon wrt other forums
)
If it has been a long time (72 hours approx ... according to the forum admins) and you havent recieved an answer then you can post in it again to "bump" up the thread. Its ok in that case if you double post ... just say that you didnt get an answer hence you are bumping you thread up again
