True, if we werent so lazy we wouldnt be having this conversation. And i agree that using the full names would make it so much easier for people new to PCs and especially Forums. I remember that i too didn't know that IE stood for Internet Explorer (and trust me that wasn't to long ago).

I must admit, i too have become lazy and have started using abbreviations. I guess once we get used to it and post on places like forums we assume everyone knows what we mean when we say things like IE, FF (or Fx), WMP, MSNMsgr, MsgPlus! etc.

But i must also say that i do not see why Mozilla want Firefox abbreviated to Fx. I saw that on there website a while back, and have since then tried to get into the habit of abbreviating as Fx and not FF. But it is very difficult.

True, i've never come across the FF buttons, but you have a point there. Maybe they saw that people call Firefox FF and not Fx like that suggested, and thus modified the buttons. This is just a guess though
