In the world of computers can refer to both 1000 and 1024. However, 1024 is more common and accepted. Filesizes and memory size are usually measured in the 1024 form.
Strictly speaking foaly is right, but in the real word using 1000 instead of 1024 on file/memory size is not much accepted and causes a lot on confusion.
