Viruses are always on the loose! Weather its from files you downloaded from a site or your friends sent it to you via messenger, it's a big problem.
There are a few things you can do such as
always confirm that your contact sent it to you and it wasn't an automated message. Also make sure you have a good anti-virus that's always updated. Never give out your password to a third party site.
Here are some free anti-viruses that you can download (in no particular order).
Please note you should only have one resident anti-virus program

Remember the best virus defence is common sense and
always check with your contact!

Do you have an anti-virus scanner? If not download a full program from the first list. If you do have an anti-virus update then run it or use from the second list.
A combination of 2 programs from the third list and 1 from the top list should be sufficient to remove the virus and protect the computer in the future.
