I use WLM 8.1 so that might be why the solution I mentioned didn't work for you.
What in the world has an HTML editor got to do with reading emails?
Does this problem also occur on a clean, unpatched WLM 8.5 without any addons installed?
In that case I think it should be reported to Microsoft.
