Your school with be running Windows XP Pro I would imagine, in a domain environment (you can login to the computer and access the files in the same way from any windows computer in school)?

Basically, if you are running a Professional version of windows, you can edit the exact list of things the user can do. So, for example, you can let them install programs but not make any other important system changes.

Anyway, you shouldn't be running a normal user account as an administrator - it's a major security risk. Set each users as a normal limited user account, then if you need to carry out any system changes switch to the administrator account.
