Messenger sets its tooltip and icon whenever you set your status (doesn't matter what previous status was), this is part of the routine Messenger does. And this is actually also used in my script to restore the icon and tooltip to its original.
Plus! does not fire a statuschange event when you set your status to the same status as before. The only thing you can do is either subclassing Messenger (long way around and requires external DLL) or using a timer which polls constantly (creates extra overhead)... or request to Patchou that he also let the statuschange event fire upon this event.
(this also shows that if something doesn't seem to happen on the surface it doesn't mean nothing happens at all in the background)
