O.P. Website Restrictions
Is there any way that I can restrict people from going on to certain websites using Mozilla Firefox, my brother has been selling my stuff on eBay, so I don't want to allow him to access it at all, as he's really annoying my parents aswell... he sold something for £3 that could've been sold for around £50... how naive... It would help if you knew how to do it in internet explorer aswell :)... any help would be appreciated.

No, I'm not saying that I don't want him on my eBay account, we don't want him on eBay at all, we don't have multi-accounts cause Its my computer pretty much anyway :)... I don't have an eBay account, he does, and he's going crazy for selling things, this is the only way to make him stop...

RE: Website Restrictions
if you use a router you can block websites, but then you can't access them yourself.

Then you could edit you hosts file to point www.ebay.com to anouther address, that would stop anyone accessing ebay.com.
For more information on host files search google.

RE: Website Restrictions
thats an idea

goto start > run, and type the following (depending on your OS)

Windows 95/98/Me c:\windows\hosts

Windows NT/2000/XP Pro  c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Windows XP Home c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

type 127.0.0.1 ebay.co.uk on a new line

so your hosts file should say something like this...

quote:
# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
#      102.54.94.97     rhino.acme.com          # source server
#       38.25.63.10     x.acme.com              # x client host

127.0.0.1       localhost
127.0.0.1       ebay.co.uk

RE: Website Restrictions
don't touch the hosts file :mipdodgy:

if you do that, 1st: you yourself won't be able to access ebay.co.uk unless change the file again,
2nd: your brother will be able to change the file, and delete the line
3rd: you'll be able to access ebay by putting its IP in the browser, instead of the name.
