Nothing illegal about ripping and burning a DVD someone else made....That might be what he wants to do *-)

To back up the DVD in full is not illegal, but to modify it (e.g. changing region codes) is.

I didn't say you were, but it's still illegal to modify it in any way.

It's legal to back-up your DVDs and games in full for your own use as long as you keep them in tact (un-modified).

Modifying it in ANY way is illegal whether you're keeping it, re-selling it or giving it away.

It's for my own use.  But if I don't want to modifiy it i can use Dvd shrink and dvd decrypter right?

That's what I've just been telling you. Using ANY program such as DVD shrink to modify a retail DVD in ANY way, EVEN YOUR OWN, EVEN IF IT'S FOR YOUR OWN USE, you are breaking the law.
