The first time I used Internet I was 13 years old, and I went to a cyber for 30 minutes (at that time it was $4 USD for 30 minutes) for a school project thing. I went there and I didn't know how to use Internet Explorer. I just sat there and typed an address, and the 30 minutes were gone.
So, after that I got to visit my father on US, and he had Internet.
I became an Internet n00b in a month.
After that, I spent the next 2 years trying to get Internet in my home. I spent a lot of money on a cyber in the corner of the block. In 2002, after trying a "free" Internet connection (I ended up spending $500 in a week
), my mother decided to get a dial-up connection.
In 2004 I went to see my dad again, and he had broadband connection.
I came back here and there was DSL in my town (finally
) and now I'm using that.
To me it's about communication, learning and having fun. It's something I can't have in RL, because of the stupid place where I live and other factors I will not mention. I get a lot of information from the Net. It's fun, and why not?
