A skin is nothing more then a modified msnmsgr.exe and/or modified DLL's. So install the skin and copy the normal Messenger files to somewhere and you have your full skin. If you wish you can remove Windows X after that to free some space and and use your copied files instead...

Okay let me get this straight. If I install the Windows X edition, pick the skin I want, then copy the DLL files into a diff folder, and then uninstall Windows X , install 6.2 then copy the DLL files in the directory I get the skin correct?

Normaly, every skin is compatible... Like I sometime said before (and which XxRebelSeanxX has quoted); a skin is nothing more then some modified images and texts, so it should work with any addon since it doesn't change the inner workings of Messenger... But beware, I said "it should", it could be possible that some (bad made) skin alters the inner workings of Messenger and then you could have trouble.... Anyways, just install a skin and try it out. If you don't like it or it doesn't work, you can always reinstall the original Messenger on top of it or choose "repair" in the add/remove section of Windows, to have everything back to normal...

The files that were changed by the skin.... To make it simply, copy everything in your messenger directory....

No!... Now you say something completely different then before :dodgy:

Try to think about what you are doing in a logic way (not meant offensive):

* "first I copied ALL files from my MsnMessenger 6.2, then I uninstalled it"
By doing that you will only copy the original, unmodified MSN Messenger. What are you gonna do with that? If you use these copied files you only will put the original Messenger back, not the skinned....

You must do what you've said in your previous post (of which I replied: "yes"). Reread that and think about what is different....

PS: I'm not helping you directly with giving you the point-by-point list, you wont learn anything from that. Try to think and understand yourself what you must do. It isn't difficult, you only need to think about what you wanna do and put it in the right order...

or reread one of my first posts where I already said exactly what you must do:

Grrrrr. Let me restate this. Okay I un-installed Msn Messenger 6.2. I installed Windows X. I picked Clear Msn. Finished installing that. I copied all the files from Clear Msn messenger into another folder. I un-installled Windows X... I installed Msn Messenger 6.2. Now what do I do to get the Clear Msn skinn on my 6.2? lmao

yes, now you are again on the right track.... you only need to put your copied (and thus skinned) files back over the original MSN Messenger....

If you wonder why you needed to reinstall the original MSN Messenger again after you uninstalled Windows X: You had to install it to make sure you have all the registry settings and all. Because copying/replacing files isn't the same as installing a program.... So... now the only thing todo is to replace the original Messenger files with the skinned ones...
