Hi,

Here is a question if my primary master Hard Drive Fails to boot and it did this twice already does this mean the HD is dead?  It's a Fujitsu 20Gig Drive.

Thanks

RE: Primary Master Fails?
Not really...you can at least do these two steps:

1. Fix MBR on your disk, using your Windows Setup CD (I assume you're using Win 2K/XP/2K3, so it's the "fixmbr" (or something like that) command in Recovery Console)
Sorry that I'm not very sure about the command...I suggest you double check before you run anything.

2. Even if you can't fix the MBR, chances are that the data on the HDD could still be reclaimed, if you move it to another computer and use that computer's OS to read the data on your HDD.

3. If all fail, god bless your disk and you :(

Not necessarily. This can mean that the MBR (Master Boot Record) is broken.
Fix it with your WinXP CD entering the Recovery Console (or whatever it is called in english) and use a command called FIXMBR.

You should also do a CHKDSK /R to fix any problems.

And you should be done with that... if you're lucky :^)

Edit: Bleh, dodgy Chinese... :dodgy:

I had that twice in a row less than an hour ago.. Then I turned my PC off, double-checked the cables, and it worked!

All you should really do is run around in circles screaming profanity at the top of your lungs and wait for some nerd to come running.

You should always double check that the cables that connect things together are tight. ALWAYS GROUND YOURSELF BY TOUCHING SOMETHING METAL BEFORE YOU DO THIS!!!

Because that doesn't have any influence on the static energy that your body always has and which can damage sensitive computer parts beyond repear.

So, the reason why you have to ground yourself doesn't have anything todo with the power plugged in or not.

Although a plugged in powercord is also dangerous! It must be unplugged also incase your PSU has a failure and the electricity isn't blocked by it.
