POP (Post Office Protocol) is used to get e-mails from a mailserver to your computer where it will be saved.

So this means you can retreive and view your Gmail mails with Outlook (Express) or any other software supporting POP3

....and msg plus! no? MSG Plus supports pop 3.... so you would be able to check gmail through msn? am i right? or completly wrong?

Well it all depends on how you like it, i personally love the way mail is organized on Gmail, it's just simple to use and loads fast.
