I think he is. When you're subscribed to a thread, you get e-mail alerts when a reply is made. The same goes for subscribing to a forum: you get e-mail alerts when a new thread is made in a subscribed forum.

No subscription = no alerts.

I'd make a subscriptions RSS feed if there was enough demand, because it sounds like a kinda fun project. How many people have RSS readers though? In other words: how many people would be able to take advantage of the feed?

i'd use RSS feeds, and you could use that RSS plugin in the first topic

LiveMessage is actually a pretty big bandwidth waste if you ask me. It downloads the whole feed every time it "crawls" which is about every 15 minutes or so. It does no checking on the last modified time or anything.

If you search this forum there is a similar thread where I said I was working on a system which would intergrate in to MyBB and provide personalised alerts. I haven't done anything with it since that time..
