The more and more I read what you said, the less it seems graphics related. Computers are strange things... (Ive had things that have looked like a faulty hard drive or cable, but turned out to be memory).

Ask on the forums there. There are loads of very intelligent people on there. Im sure one of them would be able to solve your problem with ease.

I have asked many questions on there, all of which have been answered by someone sooner or later. You never know, someone might have experienced the same problem already, and know the exact cure.

Just asking, did you do anything so it would get fixed?

The RAM was fine, it was to do with the graphics card (the monitor). It hasn't jammed up yet, and it won't touchwood.

have you been getting any BSOD with the irq_less_or_equal_than message?
have you try'd to boot from xp cd, do first repair option over command line, perform a chkdsk /p to see if there any errors? if any error , (*1) do a ./mbrfix (enter; yes; enter) or a (*2) ./bootfix (enter; yes; enter) ?

explanation: sometimes, common processes do bad stuff with sys files and/or profile files or even boot disk files ...

(*1(mbrfix)fix damage files like ntldr on the root disk,
*2(bootfix)fix files on home folders like documents and settings/user)

        ... that prevents xp to rise from the dark screen...

You need a special motherboard that it's chipset supports Dual-channel memory.

wats the temp around u....my old comp used to freeze like this if it got too hot in the room...(like 40 C)
