O.P. Mp3 NO! wma YES!
I want to assign my contacts a piece of music to play when they sign in but I am having some trouble.

Most of my music is in .wma format but Messenger Plus! won't let me use that. It says I have to use .mp3 of which I only have 1.

On Messenger Plus! for 6.2 I was able to use .wma so I was wondering if it was possible to use it on this?

Oh yeah, the message box that came up stated that my media player was not able to play this format of music yet I listen to it all the time in Media Player 10, it said I could try reinstalling my media player so I did that yet to no success.

Please help.

The new version of Messenger Plus! which sould be out sometime this month doesn't use codecs anymore but uses Multiformat Platforms for Files and should accept MP3s. Do you get any sort of error when you try to set the sound?

When I try to play it it says;

"Your sound device is not capable of playing this file
Reinstalling the latest version of Microsoft Media Player may help to resolve this problem"

I just tested a WMA file and Messnger Plus! (3.5) does not support WMAs. You will have to find an application that can convert them to MP3s (for instance iTunes).

Also AAC files (.m4a) are not accepted by Messenger Plus!.

Maybe its because of the Windows Media DRM License

Is iTunes free and does it take long to convert tracks to mp3? I don't want to spend ages converting them just for Messenger Plus!

Yes iTunes is free but it only converts from CD (cda) to either mp3 or 4(AAC).
