RE: windows messenger is not opening
Use this command and that should remove windows messenger:
Goto Start click Run. In the Run box enter in the following string:
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
Then just download Windows Messenger again. The other thing you could try to do is press CTRL + ALT + DEL and see if windows messenger is running as a process in the background if it is just close it and try to open it.
