Being a seller on ebay myself, if I am not mistaken, its somewhere in the help files about that you are not allowed to do private sales with an item that is listed. I'm certain you are only allowed to do that if no one bids on the item and you can offer it as a second chance offer

EDIT: heres the page from the uk site acout off site sales: http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/rfe-spam-non-ebay-sale.html

Ebay states:

An offer to sell an item directly to another eBay member through email breaches eBay's policy. It's also extremely unsafe to purchase an item through this email system, regardless of the seller's claims or feedback, as you lose the benefit of eBay's Purchase Protection Programme and risk losing your money.

mwe99: he can't as it is a violation of the seller's policy

may73alliance: the best thing you can do is return the email saying you cannot do what he/she is asking as it is again the rules and policies set out by ebay for seller and tell them that they would have to bid on it on the site. If thy want it badly enough, they'll bid through ebay and then at least you would get feedback too.

Its actually not safe if you do 'off auction' type sales. Basically you're not covered if he doesnt pay etc plus singapore postage is very high.  Oh infact! when i sold mine i got message from people in Africa asking will they sell it for me, i think they were fraud type so i just didnt.
he said hed have sopmeone from his fedex to pick it up

It's a scam. Just dont. Make him bid for it.
