RE: upgrading
I would definitely suggest ME over 2000 for gaming. Just do some googling to see how to tweak ME as much as possible :)

I know. If you're gonna use ME, then just go back to good ol' win98.
I reckon you should try 2000 just to see what happens. Don't try XP, I installed it on a 400mhz Celeron and it was about 5 times slower than win98.

RE: upgrading
ME is the worse possible OS to run on any computer. It is known as microsofts worse project ever. i dont even think they support it anymore.
xp will run very very slow on that computer
stick with windows 98 second edition.

theres no real reason for you to have windows 2000 installed.. unless your buying a game that needs it.. but seeing as your processor PII, not many games will run on that.

but whatever you do, dont install ME

RE: upgrading
With the right tweaks XP can run on a P-100 without issues.  Granted XP will be slow on anything under 500MHz but it's bearable.  2000 Workstation would probably be a better choice performance wise while XP will give you better looks and a few extra features.

On the flipside of the coin, you should start to think of upgrading even to older equipment like a Athlon 800MHz+ or Pentium3 800MHz+ as that will get XP running smoothly and enable you to do more.

I'm guessing your CPU is a big Cartridge?  If it is then a Slot 1 Pentium 3 would be possible, without a Motherboard upgrade.  You can also get adapters to allow Socket 370 Processors in a Slot 1 Mothreboard.

http://www.kikumaru.com/pc/s370tos1/index_e.html (list of Adapter Cards at the bottom)

Good place to look for the Cards/CPU's is eBay or your local FreeAds (newspaper adverts of things for sale).

I pulled out my celeron 400mhz last night and installed nlite XP - it didn't do too badly - booted up in about 2 minutes. I'm gonna try win98 and see if there's any difference.
