i was thinking and was wondering if this thought is correct.  ok well cox cable internet sends the internet signal to my ouse...i already have one modem downstairs ...but if i put another modem upstairs connected to the cable would they both work?

i think they would lf they dont try to use a spliter i or a router

ya probably ...basically cox is our cable tv company and out high speed cable interent provider

Oh ok well then thats the same as rogers well then if you want to put new modem then use a spliter from the soure of your curent one to these the sliter the the two modem boxs meet. This is not for dial up i dont know if that will work lol maybe

i cant its downstairs im trying to put another modem upstairs...but i think it should work b/c the cable company doesnt chose what cable outlets its gunna go to ...they just shoot the signal to my house...right.  so im probably thinking that if i bought another modem or somthing like that i could get my cable internet upstairs as well as downstairs (downstairs using my original modem) (upstairs using the new mdem but at the same time) sry if my explanation is too confusing

Well that might work but just call them dont say your doing what your doing but just say your having problums with the outlets and you moved your computer from one roon to the other and if they say it workis from all outlets just say you conected it wrong and then do the modem thing


but if you want to save money just use a router or a splitter but you will need a big wire or use a wireless router and intall a wireless comection into your hardwear like a laptop would.

i dont want to use a router b/c wireless doesnt work well at all and wired router has a big wire that i have to extend through the ceiling so i just want to get another modem.

yeah but think about it, that means the same internet is going through all the outlets, so if you had two modems on different outlets, they would get data they never sent and stuff like that because they dont know which is which, so it would'nt work.

Just attach a router or switch to your cable modem and then you will be able to plug up to four pcs into that router/switch.
