RE: Worried about router
WPA > WEP In terms of security and useability. I do agree with cookie, encryption should be mandatory. Infact i'm pretty sure my netgear wireless router asked me what type during install.

If your really worried about your neighbour the greatest length of security you could go to is this:

Enabling WPA (which you should already have on)

Using the "Access List" - Restricting MAC addresses (basicially computers) to computers that have been allowed by you in the router settings page.

and disabling the broadcast of your SSID (your network name). When you scan for wireless networks only networks appear that have SSID broadcasting enabled, if you disable it when users scan for wireless networks in your area they simply see nothing. To connect you need to type in the SSID of your network as it will not appear when scanning.

With those very secure settings (overthetop but if you want to be really cautious.) if a user wants to connect they basicially need to find out the SSID of your network, enter the correct password of your encryption and then also have been allowed access by you in the "Access List" of your router's settings.

In response to PSP's only having WEP, maybe you should upgrade your firmware as my cousins has WPA compatability and he connected to my network fine with it .
