O.P. Another RAM problem
I just recieved my RAM and having problems already.
I put the 1gb module in my motherboard and i get continuous short bios beeps. my mobo manual said that means there is a power error. I found this strange as i have a 550W power supply. my current 2x 256Mbs still work fine, but the 1gb is acting wierd
I bought a 1Gb PC-3200, Hi density Programmed, 400Mhz-128Kx4bit (taken from the actual module)
my mobo can support: DDR400/333/266
128/256/512/1Gb unbuffered non ecc DRAM
128, 256,512 technologies implemented as x8/x16

have i bought the wrong type of RAM. if so what part is wrong?

Are your other rams still in?
If so trying taking them out and see whats happens.
If it works then put 1 stick of ram in and see if it works then the other.

i tried with only the 1gb and thats what gave me the error.
just now i tried with all 3 but the computer only sees it as 256mb RAM :S
but at the moment its running on 512MB

does my chipset support high densitiy ram? my chipset being Intel 848P, becuase i bought it from ebay and the ebay member wrote that the chipsets which were NOT compatible with it, and 848 was not there so i thought it would be ok.

would i need to clear the CMOS?
