RE: Newsgroups
Open Outlook Express.
From the 'Tools' menu, select 'Accounts'.
Select the 'Add' button. Click 'News'. Follow the instructions in the Internet Connection Wizard.
Enter your name and e-mail address when prompted. Choose 'Next' after each entry.
On the Internet News Server Name Page, enter "betanews.microsoft.com" and check the box "My news server requires me to log on". Click 'Next'.
For account name, enter "<Your newsgroup ID>". Then enter your password. Click 'Next'.
Then click 'Finish'.
Select 'Close' and begin downloading your newsgroups.
So basic setup..
The first time you set your newsgroup password, it can take up to four hours to become active.
Have you followed that?

Sorry, but just to make sure.
Are you trying to connect to the private newsgroups? If so are you part of the Managed Windows Live Messenger Beta?
