O.P. USB memory on Win98 or Linux installed from floppy disks
Just a short question before I head off for school:
I got this really old laptop, but I would like to mess around with it a bit. However, it has no network card, so I can't connect it to the network, the CD-station is more or less useless and I can't install the USB memory drivers because they are for Win98SE. So, this leaves me with pretty few options:
1) Get the stick to work on my Win98 somehow.
2) Get a Linux that supports USB memory sticks installed. For this I can only use the floppy drive.
3) Any ohter suggestiuons?

Put the drivers from the cd on a floppy with a computer that has the CD Drive working, and put the floppy on your old laptop.
Tried that?
YouTube closed-captions ripper (also allows you to download videos!)

I can get the drivers to the computer, but they won't install because my Windows is too old.

I just ask this because I have the old one, I wouldn't be interested in a new one.

Windows 95? Good luck getting USB on that!
Windows 98 (FE)? Should be possible, if you get the right drivers.

It's a Windows 98 "FE", but I didn't find any drivers for that. I did try with the only available ones, but when installing it says that my Windows is too old (drivers said they are for SE when I downloaded them). If anyone wants to search, my memory stick is a Kingston DTI/512.

The Kingston site only provides drivers for 98SE (ME and later have USB Mass Storage drivers built-in). I don't think you'll find pre-98SE drivers: 98SE kinda overruled FE. USB support is present though (according to Wikipedia), so you may get lucky ;)

Yeah I knew about this, that's why I asked you guys for help. I did install the USB upgrade/patch so it supports USB, but still all devices need their own drivers. I tried upgrading to ME yesterday (had one CD of it lying around), it got to 7% and then the CD-station failed. I'm gonna try with Linux at some point.

Anohter question, how hard is it to make the laptop monitor work as a monitor for a desktop computer (ripping up the guts of the laptop)?
