O.P. Canadian Lawyers needed
Alright, here's the situation that I would like advice/help with. I've got a friend who lives with his dad in Quebec. His dad wants to move to Ontario. The mom lives in Quebec. My friend wishes to stay with his mom, but his dad refuses. According to his dad, he HAS to go with him. Is this legal? His mom's lawyer (my friend's mom) said that both parents have to agree for him to move to his mom's and stay here. Is this true? Is there any way to prevent this from happening, legally? I have about a month to whatever is in my power to stop him from leaving.

Please respond only if you are: a lawyer, a student studying laws, a judge, or have a high level of knowledge about these laws.

Thank you for your help and understanding in this matter.

If I remember well, when you are 14 or above, you can choose yourself to go with your mother or your father

more like http://www.cdpdj.qc.ca/en/youth-protection/index....1=1&noeud2=5&cle=0 Let me read it and then I'll come back to you on that one.

quote:
The Youth Protection Act is intended to protect children: ... who are in the custody of a person whose behaviour or way of life creates a risk of moral or physical danger;
Maybe he could use that to his advantage...

Laws are always complicate to understand by its difficule language:P but if I'm not mistaken, it means that if the child is under 14, the parents are deciding. But if the child is over 14, he can object the decisions of his parents
