i've been on those links before but they didn't really help me, :-( it basically translates as either faulty driver, faulty memory, faulty software, faulty hardware.....

so doesn't actually narrow it down in the end 8-)

i've tested my memory with both memtestx86 and MS Memory Tester thingy both went through a good few cycles without any errors showing so i stopped scanning

see this is what the MS site supposedly says my problem is
•    Thepool has already been freed.

•    Parameter 1 = 0x07 : Attempt to free a pool that was already freed
•    Parameter 2 = Reserved (__LINE__)
•    Parameter 3 = Pointer to pool header
•    Parameter 4 = 0

which leads me to think its ram gone bad but each one tests positive.

i have 1.5gb 2 512 sticks that came with my PC and one from my old PC they are different brands but this shouldn't make a difference surely :S

Go through and test it with one stick out at a time, It sounds like bad memory to me.

Just FYI, RAM can go bad and still "test" fine in memtest and other testers.

You'd be surprised. The older memory won't be matched to the newer memory, and this may be the couse of the problem.

well i think my older PC had better RAM, i beleive i bought a kingston ram stick to replace faulty RAM in that one. my current PC well i couldn't see any brand name on the RAM sticks so i assume its a bit 'worse' :P

I have to go to hospital now so if you lot come up with some more suggestions i'll do them all when i get back later today

try using only one at once.... ram may be faulty, tests wrong.
